Msondo Ngoma Music Band, formed in 1964, is one of Tanzania’s oldest and most legendary music groups, recognized for their signature style of Zilipendwa (classic Tanzanian music). Originally known as NUTA Jazz Band, the group released a song titled Ndugu Hatuelewani.

“Ndugu Hatuelewani” by Msondo Ngoma Band reflects the essence of Tanzanian muziki wa dansi. As part of their rich history, Msondo Ngoma, originally formed in 1964, is recognized as the oldest active band in Tanzania. The song explores themes of misunderstanding between people (as the title suggests, meaning “We don’t understand each other“). The track carries the signature style of Msondo, with a blend of brass instruments and rhythmic Swahili drums, typical of their longstanding musical tradition.
